The Bowles Lake Project: Steam, Style & Soul in a Modern Primary Suite

Design by Lindy Design Build

There’s something uniquely satisfying about a space that just works—a room that’s not only beautiful, but deeply in tune with the people who live in it. At Lindy, that’s always the goal...or at least one of them. And in our recently completed Bowles Lake Project in Littleton, Colorado, we brought that ethos to life in a primary suite that now feels like a true retreat.

Our client came to us with a clear challenge: a primary suite that didn’t feel primary at all. The bathroom was cramped and outdated, anchored by a claustrophobic 30” x 30” shower stall that offered little in the way of comfort or luxury. But the bones of the home held promise. With a little creative reworking of space—and a lot of thoughtful detailing—we transformed this suite into a personal sanctuary where form and function finally meet.

A Steam Dream Come True

At the top of our client’s wishlist? A steam shower—and not just any steam shower, but one that could deliver the full spa-at-home experience. To make room, we extended the bathroom into unused space from the adjoining bedroom, allowing for a full re-imagining of the layout.

The result is a spacious, indulgent MrSteam-powered shower, complete with a teak bench for lounging, a recessed niche framed in matte black trim, and a tactile Bedrosians Sahara Crosshatch tile floor that offers subtle texture underfoot. WarmlyYours heated floors extend throughout the bathroom to create a sensory experience that starts the moment you step in.

Vanity Meets Utility

Storage was another pain point in the original layout. Our solution was a streamlined, flat-panel Richmond Slab vanity by Executive Cabinetry, finished in a warm Maple Sand that grounds the neutral palette. Top Knobs Bar Pulls in Flat Black add crisp contrast and architectural definition.

And we didn’t stop at drawers—you’ll find the magic in the details. A sleek Docking Drawer outlet keeps cords out of sight and morning routines running smoothly, while a recessed toilet paper holder by ALFI includes a genius little cell phone shelf—because let’s be honest, we all need it.

Material Alchemy

One of our favorite moments in the design process is when materials begin to speak to each other—and in this space, the language is one of tone, texture, and restraint. Large-format 12x24 Bedrosians Sahara tiles in Ecru and Dark wrap the room in warmth, while slender 1x12 Taupe tiles run vertically behind the vanity, creating elegant rhythm and elevation.

The Delta Modern shower fixtures and Delta Nicoli sink faucets in matte black feel purposeful, not flashy. And the Kohler Ladena sinks, chosen for their classic under-mount silhouette, add a hint of softness to the otherwise modern lines.

To light the space, we chose Quoizel’s Kaye 2-Light sconces—modern, tubular lights that frame the pill-shaped mirrors with a gentle glow, offering just the right balance of ambient and task lighting.

A Suite That Feels PERSONAL

The primary bedroom didn’t go untouched. We anchored the space with Benjamin Moore Dragon’s Breath on the accent wall—a moody, rich tone that adds instant depth. It sets a stunning backdrop for the Rejuvenation Imbrie Articulating Sconces, which bring a classic brass-and-enamel moment into the mix. Paired with Buster + Punch dimmer switches, the lighting now responds intuitively to any mood, from soft nighttime reading to bright morning motivation.

Grounding the room is Dreamweaver’s Finishing Touch carpet in Shortbread, a soft, neutral foundation that keeps the room feeling cozy and connected to the palette of the bath.

It’s In the Little Things

What truly elevates this project—what takes it from renovation to rejuvenation—is the level of intention behind each design decision. The framed art, the brass details that catch the light, the sculptural decor and layered textures—all these elements infuse the suite with soul. There’s balance here between simplicity and richness, comfort and modernity.

This is the Lindy way: a belief that great design doesn’t have to be showy. It has to be you.
